‘Tis the Season for Packages and Precautions
According to company announcements earlier this year, Amazon Prime has over 100 million members globally. By some estimates Amazon will account for 40% of online sales this holiday season. You can imagine how many packages will be circling the globe this month. It’s likely a big relief for Santa, but the convenience of having your gifts arrive on your doorstep does come with some downsides. All those extra packages mean extra opportunities for identity thieves to get ahold of your personal information.
Every shipping box comes complete with the most basic elements for stealing your identity. The shipping label with your name and address and the packing slips that you might just throw into the recycling bin can be used by dumpster diving thieves to glean key information about you, where you shop and how you pay for the items you purchase. As we’ve written about before, the only way to protect yourself from this invasion of privacy is to take the precaution of shredding any personally identifiable information before you throw it away. When you have a dozen or more package deliveries coming your way it can be a real hassle to remember to peel and shred every label, but our self-shredding label makes it much more convenient. Our mission has always been to take the frustration out of everyday tasks, and who needs more minor irritations around the holiday season?
Last month we wrote about tamper evident labeling and authentication labels as another potential application for our self-shredding label. If Amazon used a self-shredding label to secure every Amazon Prime package, consumers would be confidence that their packages have not been tampered with enroute.
We want to wish all of you a safe and relaxing holiday season and we look forward to sharing some big announcements early in the new year. For now, happy holidays and thank you for following Invaluable Inventions!
